This is the story of one man who served as an infantryman in the 90th Division in WWII. The book provides insightful observations of combat and human nature that reflect a thoroughly modern perspective. After finishing the book, I googled Ed Jackel and found out he passed away at age 94 in 2012. He wrote the book in his 80's, which allowed him to bring a mature viewpoint to his experiences. You can find his obituary by Googling him - he lived an interesting, long, and useful life after going through some tough experiences in WWII, which he details in his book.
